Update on BlitzWeekend - 48 hours left!
February 27th, 2008
We’ve been working hard on this event and so far it’s been very positive. We recently updated the expert page as more people will be showing up.
It’s still not too late to register so please visit the wiki to register or email hello AT blitzweekend.com. Unlike barcamps, if you plan to secretly visit us, please register in advance so that we have plenty of food for everyone.
See you there!

Are you an “expert” ?
February 20th, 2008
Most of you fellow readers probably know about BlitzWeekend. I’ve been so busy lately with this event that’s all I can write about. I have a hard time keeping up with the rest of the universe these days so bare with me for another 2 weeks or so.
For those of you who might be interested but don’t feel like joining then why not visit us as an expert? If you believe you can help others in any field you master then you are most welcomed. You won’t be part of a team per se but you’ll be able to roam from team to team, giving out tips on whatever you’re good at. This includes technology, business, accounting, law, web design, user accessibility, or any other field you think might be valuable to future entrepreneurs.
We only ask that you tell us in advance when you will be showing up as we might need to adjust some schedules. For example, we don’t want to have all the python gurus coming in 15 minutes before the end of the event…
So if you’re interested in helping this “camp style” event, just email hello@blitzweekend.com

BlitzWeekend pictures and follow up
February 13th, 2008
It was a great evening. Thanks to StandoutJobs, not only we had plenty to drink, but the Ben and Fred were getting hungry so they ordered pizza for everyone. I think the event was a success as everyone that I talked to thought about coming and some already had some secret idea to work on. It looks promising…!
Heri from MontrealTechWatch was taking pictures and here are some interesting ones.

Why coders like building web apps really fast?
February 7th, 2008
For ReadWriteWeb readers, there is an interesting interview with Kelli Shaver who participated in a Rails Rumble. Her team created Admiteer in 48 hours. It’s very interesting to know that a lot of coders love those events. Anyone has an explanation why since we often think of coders as anti-social?

BlitzWeekend “5 à 7″ on Feb 12th @ Blizzarts
February 7th, 2008
There will be a cocktail meeting (AKA “5 à 7”) for the upcoming BlitzWeekend. If you want to know more about the event, team up with other members or if you simply like to hang out then come join us on Feb. the 12th at Blizzart (3956 Boulevard St-Laurent). Click here for a map of the location. There will be some free drinks courtesy of StandoutJobs. The goal of the cocktail is not only to demystify the event but also to allow “team-less” people to team-up and start thinking about what they can work on.
BlitzWeekend will be here in 3 weeks and we’d like to invite anyone to become a participant. Since space will be limited, you’ll have the chance to pre-register during the cocktail meeting. Please feel free to spread the word to anyone who might be interested as this will be a very exciting event.
As one of the organisers, I’d like to thank StandoutJobs and Blizzarts for their support in making this cocktail available for free. Free events are only possible because of sponsors like them.

Richard Menneveux flew from France to visit Montreal. He spent some time with us and he was really amazed at how well organized Montreal is. This is really encouraging especially from an entrepreneur coming from Paris.
