Twitter or Identi.ca?
July 18th, 2008
I decided to give Twitter another try and while doing so, I feel in love with Identi.ca … Now I wonder what to do. Being on two different platform is not really efficient. I’m curious if international people will use Identi.ca as it might look like a local/canadian service to them.
That’s probably a very bad argument on my side as many sites are using fancy domain names to gain some attention or to have interesting names such as d.e.l.i.c.i.o.us (which I can never get right) but we’ll see how it goes.
So, what’s better on Identi.ca? So far I like the way we can reply to a specific notice. It makes conversation slightly more organized. I wish we could have a threaded view, that’d be better for low attention span & memory people like me. If I get an update, I might not even know what it was referring to…!
How about you? What would make you jump ship permanently?

I’m so glad you’re falling in love with it! I feel that way too.
And not just because I started the site! I feel like the community is very strong on Identi.ca, that the feedback loop is really tight between CYI and the people on the site.
Most of all, early adopters get a much better chance of gratitude. We’ve been really lucky to have such enthusiastic support from the Montreal tech community, and that’s so crucial in the first weeks and months.
Thanks again for the mention.

@heri
The IM option with Identi.ca is nice though. If you have a web based cell phone (which unfortunately I don’t) then you can do a lot with it. I always have a gmail window available so that works well for me, I wouldn’t use a desktop client. In fact, I believe that using desktop clients in general will be obsolete soon but that’s another topic

@evan
I really like TwitterFeed and that’d be a nice feature… On my blog, people have the ability to subscribe by email, RSS, Twitter (via twitterfeed). Why not Identi.ca?
