BlitzDirectory video interview

I finally had some time to start editing some of the video interviews we did during the BlitzWeekend. The first one is BlitzDirectory. Heri from MontrealTechWatch has a great interview with them and here is a video interview that we shot during the weekend. BlitzDirectory won the people’s award with their product. I personally think it’s very cool as this would solve one of my daily pain (my day job is a security expert). Managing local accounts for users who are laid off or fired is often hard for most companies and managing multiple ASP accounts is even harder. I have yet to see a place where it’s done properly (i.e. in real time).
According to Erik Wright, “BlitzDirectory aims to eliminate the barriers to SaaS adoption facing small and medium businesses. By providing a unified experience for both administrators and users, BlitzDirectory will provide service consumers an affordable, “better-than-desktop” experience that they can setup in minutes. For SaaS vendors, BlitzDirectory is a targeted, value-added sales channel that enables them to stand out from the crowd.”
They focus SMB’s but I think they should focus large businesses as that’s where the problem is more critical (regulations and so on) and also, that’s where the money is

Update on Blitzweekend + Videos

Day 1 of Blitzweekend was crazy. People worked all day and the quality of projects was quite impressive. I wanted to remind them that they only have 48 hours to complete their project but that didn’t seem to bother them at all. They were focused and energetic (probably from drinking too much energy drinks!)
I wanted to participate myself but was clearly too busy with helping the organizing team. I didn’t regret anything as I had the chance to follow different teams on video. As soon as the event will be over, I will finish my “montage” and post the videos online. In the mean time, check out the Blitzweekend kick off and opening presentation videos shot by Stephane Daury.
Great things are going to be created this week and it looks like there might be some surprises for the Montreal community in the near future. More on that later..!
