My reCaptcha experience
October 11th, 2007
I just installed reCaptcha on the startup listing page as I was getting spam everyday. I know there are tons of web sites mentioning about it so I’ll be quick. It works very well and it installs in about 30 seconds even if you don’t know HTML programming at all. Plus, you get the feeling that you’re helping a good cause (reCaptcha is used to decipher words from old scanned books that OCR’s can’t figure out).
If you have time then take a look at the “how does it work page” as you’ll see the magic behind reCaptcha. Indeed, if the OCR can’t decipher the text, then how do they know if what YOU entered is right? Read the page to find out.
I invite you to use reCaptcha and at the same time, I invite you to visit the startup listing page to add your own startup if you haven’t done so.
