Fixya - a new “crowdsourced” helpdesk startup

July 16th, 2007

I just wanted to do some free publicity for a new startup which I think will do well. Their name is Fixya and they provide “crowdsourced” helpdesk (for technical questions).

Now I don’t really like the word “crowdsourced” but it’s gaining popularity and I guess I will have to deal with it just like any bad habit you might have. Anyhow, I’ll have to cross that idea on my to-do list. I’m glad someone else did it as I wasn’t too sure it would work out or not. My version of this idea was actually to apply this to small businesses. Those mom and pop shops don’t have any IT staff and they don’t really know where to go for help other that Geek Squad and we all know about their reputation these days. Sure, those people can go to any technical forums, but if they have a single site to remember, then that’s really great.

Some people argue about what “web 3.0″ will be about but I truly believe that web 3.0 is all about the people. People helping people.
